Hydraulic Power Pack

Hydraulic Power Units (HPUs) or Hydraulic power packs are the main driving force of a hydraulic system. An HPU can be designed to deliver Low Pressure (LP), Medium Pressure (MP) and High Pressure (HP) hydraulic power to operate Xmas Tree Valves, Emergency Shutdown Valves, Control Valves and HIPPS Valves.

Similarly Hydraulic Power Pack plays a vital role in the operation, control, and safety of wind turbines, enabling efficient energy production while ensuring reliable performance and protection against adverse conditions of Wind Turbine. Different Wind turbine Models and Manufacturers uses different Ranges of HPUs based on the factors like Size of Turbine, Environmental conditions & Functions of Hydraulic System.

These power packs are compact in design with maximum functionality & suitable for applications where space is limited.

FAQ

A typical hydraulic power pack includes:

  • hydraulic oil reservoir/tank
  • pump (electric or pneumatic)
  • motor/driver unit
  • filters/strainers
  • pressure regulators and relief valves
  • control valves and instrumentation
  • LP/MP/HP supply headers
  • local/remote controls (manual + automation)

Petronash designs HPU packages as ready-to-connect compact systems.

HPUs can be designed with different supply pressure levels:

LP (Low Pressure)
MP (Medium Pressure)
HP (High Pressure)

Petronash HPUs typically support:
100 Bar(g) to 1500 Bar(g)

This range allows the HPU to operate multiple valve systems including Xmas tree valves and HIPPS valves.

Petronash hydraulic power packs can be designed to deliver:
0.5 L/min to 50 L/min

Flow selection depends on:

  • number of actuators/valves
  • actuation time requirement
  • accumulator sizing (if applicable)
  • system logic and safety philosophy

Petronash provides:

  • Electrical pumps
  • Pneumatic pumps
  • hybrid configurations if required

Pump selection depends on site availability of power, hazardous zone requirements, and preferred redundancy system.

HPUs are commonly used to operate:

  • Xmas tree valves
  • SCSSV / SSV wellhead valves
  • emergency shutdown valves (ESD)
  • control valves and actuators
  • HIPPS valves and safety logic valves

HPU ensures safe and stable valve operations during process and emergency conditions.

During emergency shutdown, the HPU ensures:

  • fast hydraulic pressure delivery
  • immediate actuation of shutdown valves
  • stable flow even during transient conditions
  • reliability through local/remote shutdown initiation logic

HPUs play a critical role in safety systems like WHCP and ESD panels.

Petronash hydraulic power packs support both:
Local operation – direct control at the panel/skid
Remote operation – control via PLC/RTU/SCADA/DCS

Remote operation improves safety and enables control room monitoring and actuation without approaching hazardous areas.

Compact design provides:

  • space saving in offshore platforms and wind turbine nacelles
  • easier installation and commissioning
  • reduced piping complexity
  • modular integration into skid packages
  • faster project deployment

Petronash builds HPUs focusing on maximum functionality in minimum footprint.

In wind turbines, hydraulic power packs are critical for:

  • pitch control system (controlled blade angle adjustment)
  • rotor braking system
  • yaw control system

Hydraulic systems enable stable turbine control and protection during wind changes, storms, or grid instability.

Yes. Petronash can design HPUs for any size and model of wind turbine by considering:

  • turbine size and load requirements
  • environment (coastal, offshore, dusty, cold climate)
  • required hydraulic functions
  • duty cycle and redundancy requirement

This ensures optimal performance and longer system life.

Petronash HPUs are also used in:

  • marine industries
  • automotive and test rigs
  • aerospace support systems
  • material handling systems
  • steel plants and mining operations
  • emergency and safety actuation systems

HPUs are essential wherever controlled pressure and flow are required for reliable operations.

Petronash HPUs are engineered for performance and safety, offering:

  • wide pressure range up to 1500 bar
  • wide flow range up to 50 LPM
  • electric/pneumatic pump options
  • LP/MP/HP header configurations
  • compact skid ready-to-connect design
  • customization for industrial and wind turbine use

Petronash focuses on high uptime, reliability, and system-level engineering.

Yes. Petronash can customize HPUs based on:

  • pressure class and flow requirement
  • redundancy philosophy (duty/standby pumps)
  • local/remote operation logic
  • instrumentation and control integration
  • skid design, painting and protection level

This ensures the HPU matches customer engineering standards and site needs.

Absolutely. Petronash supplies HPUs:

  • as standalone power units, or
  • integrated into complete packages like WHCP, ESD panels, valve actuator skids, and wind turbine hydraulic systems

This reduces multi-vendor dependency and improves package compatibility.
