Y-Strainer is used for mechanically removing unwanted solids from liquid, gas or steam lines by means of a perforated or wire mesh straining element. It is used in pipelines to protect Pumps, Meters, Control valves, Steam traps, Regulators and other process equipment.

A Y Strainer works by forcing the process fluid through a mesh/perforated straining element placed inside a “Y” shaped body. Solid particles get trapped in the filter element while clean fluid continues downstream.
